Mail Server Slowness Since 12/17
Since approximately December 17th the primary backend mail store has been very slow. Initially I thought it was due to more activity as people migrated off their mail, but I’m not certain that’s the cause anymore. Mail is flowing and things are working, just very slowly so connections will often time out.
There doesn’t appear to be anything physically wrong with the server or the drives, but there definitely appears to be a different usage pattern happening right now and everything is dragging as a result.
My investigation is continuing.
EDIT: The issue appears to be resolved – two mail accounts were located with 160GB and 830GB of mail respectively. Suffice to say this was atypical usage.
