Intermittent SMTP LoadBalancer Issues

Designed to increase uptime and availability, a load balancer is usually a good thing. Except when it gets in the way, as GeekISP’s SMTP load balancer has been over the past week or two. You may have noticed periodic errors when sending mail – that’s the problem.

I’ve made some changes today that hopefully will be a suitable stopgap measure, but please hang tight while we get over the bumps. Longer term, I’m optimistic that an upgrade to OpenBSD 5.2 will include improvements in relayd and make this problem go away. That’s likely to happen early or mid November.
